A child may attend pre-school from the age of 2 years. If your child is still using nappies please provide spares and wipes in their named bag. We ask all parents to provide spare clothes in their child’s bag in case of toileting accidents or getting muddy. For those toilet training, please provide a potty (if using) and lots of spare clothes

As part of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) , all children will have a key person assigned to them, which allows your child to build a familiar and trusting relationship with a member of pre-school staff who will support and help them to develop throughout their time at pre-school. Where possible, we also try to assign the same key person to any future siblings who attend the pre-school

All staff are appointed by the management committee and will have completed or are undertaking the relevant recognised statutory training courses as laid down by the 2006 Children’s Act. All staff have training in Paediatric First Aid.
Visit the Meet the Team page for our staff profiles

Because of this, we ask you to please make sure that your child brings a named coat or sun hat, as appropriate, with them to the pre-school so they can join in with their friends at all times. If it is sunner please apply suncream before leaving your child. If you would like suncream reapplied during the day, please ensure you leave a named bottle with a member of staff.
Now you know a bit more about us, we look forward to getting to know you and your child as they take their exciting first steps on their learning Journey!

SUN SMART!

We encourage all children to eat healthily at pre-school – with so many fun-filled activities on offer, it’s only natural that they get hungry! That’s why we ask all parents to provide their children with a named healthy snack for the morning sessions and/or a named healthy lunch for the afternoon sessions. We see snack time and lunch time as important occasions for the chuildren with many opportunities for developing social behaviour and when many intersting conversations ensure! The chuildren bring a packed lunch to the afternoon sessions, and this is another step forward in developing their independance, towards the time when they will be expected to manage a lunchbox at school.
• We don’t offer children juice at pre-school.
• Water and free milk is provided throughout the day.
• Please provide your child with their water bottle
• Healthy morning snack, such as fruit or breadsticks
• Packed lunches such as wraps, squeezy yoghurts and fruit
• Please provide a named beaker if your child struggles drinking from a cup.
Please ensure to cut any fruit or foods, such as grapes, in half to avoid your child choking.
• Please notify the pre-school by email or call by10am if your child is unable to attend due to illness
• If your child has been sick or had diarrhoea then a full 48 hours must have elapsed since the last episode
• Please also inform us of any history of convulsions, asthma, allergies, medications or special dietary requirements
• Head lice are an ongoing problem, so please tie long hair back securely

Pre-school sessions include outdoor play, painting, drawing, playdough, sand, water play, bricks and construction toys and puzzles.
Our afternoon sessions are for developing pre-school language, literacy and problem-solving numerical skills. We prepare children for progression within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) focusing particularly on:

It is important to us that children have fun whilst they are learning, which is why we offer a variety of fun and interactive pre-school sessions for your children, including outdoor play, painting, drawing, playdough, sand, water play, bricks and construction toys and puzzles.
We also believe that children should have the opportunity to play outside where possible, so we provide a range of activities throughout the year mirroring the indoor opportunities; children can choose the environment in which they want to learn and explore.
Facilities we have to support his are:

Children thrive best when parents take an interest in their education and as such we encourage parents to play an active part in our pre-school.
We use an electronic assessment program called “Interactive Learning Diary” (ILD) to assist us with the recording and planning of your child’s educational development.
You can view your child’s Interactive Learning Diary here
This contains information regarding the current hot topics and upcoming events. If you can’t see where the board is just ask!
Please feel free to contact any of our staff to arrange a visit for your child.
These are twice yearly in November and February/ March, when you will receive a written brief summary progress report. When your child leaves pre-school you will receive a written progress report covering all areas of learning.
If you would like to help out at a session, or have a special skill to offer, please contact the pre-school leader to arrange a suitable time.

The most important thing to us at Holy Apostles’ Preschool is the happiness of your child, so you can rest assured that our dedicated staff will make every possible effort to ensure your child settles in and enjoys their time at pre-school.
We provide a secure, warm and welcoming environment where your child can feel comfortable and safe – and please don’t worry; the wellbeing of the children is always our biggest priority. That’s why we’re always here to discuss any worries or concerns you might have.
We have created an ABOUT ME page that we would encourage you to complete and return either via email or at your first session of pre-school.

To help the children find their own things (as well as the staff), please name all the items that are sent into Pre-School.
For all terms, please provide nappies if you child needs them. If potty training please pack extra spare clothes!
